TalksVHWs learn to give short tutorials, “Home Talks”, in an impromptu way when they visit homes and the topic is appropriate. Villagers are also invited to request Home Talks when the biennial DGH Census is taken. In an effort to promote continuous quality improvement, VHWs are periodically assessed for their ability to give Home Talks and given feedback on their teaching skills.
The following Home Talks have been developed and used by VHWs over the past 18 years. They are among the full menu of talks, and are included here because they have content relevant to older adults. (The Diarrhea Home Talk targets children, but the information is also appropriate for older adults, especially if they are frail).
The COVID Home Talk was developed in 2020 in response to the pandemic and delivered by VHWs to every home in the 52 DGH villages. It was made possible by the generosity of Kisoro Elder Project friend Judy Krassner of New York, USA.
Home Talks with content specific to older adults are in development.
